Southern Railways, Chennai division has announced the increase of Platform Ticket Fare owing to upcoming festive season, the ticket fare for platform was prior Rs. 10 and now it will increase by 100% to Rs.20. According to Elumalai, Public Relations Officer of Southern Railway Chennai division, this is applicable in 8 stations under Chennai Division.
The name of stations where platform ticket fare is doubled to Rs.20 are Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Katpadi, Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Tiruvallur and Avadi.
The increase in platform ticket fare is applicable from 1st October 2022 to 31st January 2023. The increase in platform ticket fare is to ensure Bonafide passengers and avoid overcrowding during the festive season.
