After period of 10 years, the service from Coimbatore and Rameswaram is to begin. The services between Coimbatore and Rameswaram is stopped due to gauge conversion started in 2008.
The train is to operate between Rameswaram and Coimbatore via Madurai, Dindigul, Palani and Pollachi.
The proposal provided by Southern Railways is the train will start at 10.30 pm from both sides and reach their destination at 8 am next day morning.
There is also discussion on the new route to be introduced between Thoothukudi and Coimbatore via Madurai and Pollachi. The service recommended is a fast passenger service.
